The top R12.2 upgrade challenges, objectives, timelines, levels of customization, and more according to IT leaders in the US.

Objective of the R12.2 Upgrade Survey

ennVee partnered with a third-party research firm to conduct a survey on the top R12.2 upgrade challenges, business objectives, timelines, extent of customization, and amount of automated upgrade tools and processes used internally.

Who responded?

The survey targeted IT leadership at organizations located in the United States that use Oracle E-Business Suite ERP, and who either have or plan to upgrade to R12.2.

  • C-Suite (CIO, CTO, CFO)
  • VP/Director/Manager (Information Technology, Information Systems, Applications, Application Development, Business Systems, PMO)
  • Industries: Commercial, Public Sector, and Government organizations of all sizes.

Context

Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 was first released in September 2013. It introduced Online Patching to help customers ensure the continuous operation of their key business processes. The underlying technology stack was also overhauled and supplemented with Oracle Fusion Middleware. As a result, all standard and custom objects (customizations) need to undergo numerous code changes to ensure compliance with 12.2 and above. While Oracle provides a standard utility for remediating and migrating standard objects, the utility does not apply to any nonstandard (custom) objects. As a result, customers must make manually remediate and migrate all custom objects to their target R12.2 instance.
